Interactive Podium

With the green screen being our main attraction of the project, it wouldn’t be anything without the interactive podium which controls the function of the project, and displays the image and history of each location. It was essential to start thinking how this would work and what will it look like, applying ergonomics and good user experience methods to ensure it’s simple and easy to use for any type of audience.

Using corrugated card we drew out and cut a simple shape portraying a flat screen/podium. We then simply made a line insertion about 30cm down the card, but centre aligned. Then simply cut a triangle shape to act as the slider, which represents the interactive timeline on the podium. In theory the slider would be a touchscreen function, but for the purpose of a demonstration and prototype we made this a manual physical function.

Then using photo shop we created a simple but informative storyboard which demonstrates how simple the interaction is, and what will be expected to see on the podium itself. It shows the initial interface of the system itself and how it would progress, it then changes to the camera showing the person in front of the green screen, then projects the selected date of the chosen area and super imposes themselves in the image.

We also designed and rendered a 3d CAD model of the podium with actual sizes, to imagine what it would look like on an actual set, and to be used in other documents of work, such as the animation and branding for the presentation.
